well after going roundy round with the guy I bought the engine from - I'm just going to keep it and pop the head off and send it to PYR Racing - in Houston - Peter at PYR sounds like he can put my head back to factory specs for a reasonable amount on money ....

That sux man, sorry you got the short end of the stick on that deal as far as your new engine is concerned... While the head is off, maybe some new high revving valve train components? P&P? ARP studs?

Well ... I am going with all new valves - PYR is going to clean the head up for me - might go with new vavles springs and retainers - not decided - will go back with ARP studs - going to shy away from P&P work for now .... I'll send pics of the head when it's down - probably be a few weeks -

just another thumbup for Larry Jr. and the top notch service from IAS! if you want to get good cylinder headwork done, i would also recommend Tom over at portflow. i sent him my D16Y8 head for refinishing. because it took longer than he liked, he did some mild porting work for free on my cylinder head. grea guy, great shop. and he was totally up front on the time problems and very responsive to email and phone calls. even gave me a top end gasket kit for dealer cost (this made my order even cheaper than his quote).
